SAE Dubai CAC wins global Student Engagement Award

21 Oct 2015

It is with great pride that SAE Dubai offers congratulations to Ms. Tasnim Saleh who was today awarded the Student Engagement Award for Africa and Middle East as part of the 2015 Global Innovation Awards held by Turnitin. Tasnim won the award for her expertise in student engagement from a pool of more than 400 applications.

Tasnim’s award reflects on her expertise and interest in the fields of Higher Education and Student Engagement and demonstrates the push by SAE Dubai to increase the quality of education in new media in the region. Her educational background has focused on providing support to students who require additional assistance, ensuring that they do not fall by the wayside as can easily happen in large institutions.

In an interview with Turnitin, Tasnim is quoted as saying:

The highly vocational nature of the programs at SAE Institute, which specialises in media-related courses such as audio and film production, means that students often find academic writing a challenge. Informed by her studies undertaken for her Masters action research study on academic integrity, she identified that students were struggling with even the basic concepts of academic writing such as paraphrasing. Tasnim has helped her students tackle this challenge by establishing what she calls a student training program. The program uses Turnitin as a tool to address these gaps in understanding and knowledge.

Tasnim is the Campus Academic Coordinator at SAE Institute Dubai and has worked with the college since 2012. In her current role she oversees all academic matters on campus and is in a unique position to further foster the good teaching and academic practices as demonstrated by this award.

Details on the award can be found on the Turnitin website.
